It’s Ash Wednesday, and we’re taking a breath amid a whirlwind of travel. Eve and Keith spent the past week working on several projects we’re eager to tell you more about soon, including
We have been so blessed to work with people coming from a wide range of backgrounds and beliefs, including both Catholic ministry leaders and an ecumenical gathering of queer Christians. From a psychologist focusing on LGBT practicing Catholics’ well-being to an academic studying covenant brotherhood and “chosen family”… from evangelists helping queer seekers encounter the Church to teachers helping students envision futures of faith… the past week has been an incredible reminder that we do not do this work alone.
We want you to know that, too. We can’t do this work without help—and God has provided so many co-laborers! Every meeting we’ve taken, every working breakfast and dinner eaten with a fork in one hand and a rapidly scribbling pen in the other, has been possible only because of the generous support of people like you.
Lent itself is a journey we do not take alone. We go with Jesus into the desert, to be with Him and share in His own ascesis. We make to Jesus the promise Ruth makes to Naomi: “Wherever You go, I will go.”
We do not walk alone. As you begin your Lenten pilgrimage, please keep Building Catholic Futures in your prayers. Pray for those we have met with: the teachers and seekers, the facilitators and donors, the witnesses and ministry leaders. Pray for us, and know that you are in our prayers as well.
May God grant you a blessed Lent,
Eve and Keith
