A question can open a door.
A pastor has been shepherding a parish for fifteen years when one day he asks, “How can I make my parish a place that welcomes gay disciples?”
A youth minister has been walking with questioning teens for a while before he suddenly asks, “How do I see Jesus in the stories of the gay people I encounter?”
A young woman trying to understand how her faith and her orientation might go together asks, “Can you tell me about a gay saint?”
BCF explores questions like these everywhere we go. We’ve seen how these questions can open new possibilities of evangelization, teaching, and discipleship.
Or to put it more bluntly: these questions can help Catholics replace fear and silence with faith, hope, and love. These questions open doors that change lives.
But we know we can’t bring our in-person work to every place where people need to start these conversations.
Many of you may have wondered, “I really support BCF’s work. I think they’re doing great things! But I don’t know what I can do to help.” Our fall fundraising campaign is aimed at bringing our work into homes and parishes where we can’t work otherwise.
Your donation will go toward the time, labor, and expertise required to share our work in as many formats as possible: in crisply-produced videos, easily-navigable online presentations, and more.
We don’t want to start the conversation just in the places that can afford to bring in outside speakers. We know that if we want the next generation to grow up confident that there is a future in the Catholic Church for everyone… we need to be starting the conversation everywhere.
Whether or not you can give financially at this time, we ask that you keep our work in prayer. We have been so moved by the many people who have assured us that they are praying for BCF and our mission of equipping Catholic institutions to serve and share the Gospel with gay people.
